On‑Demand Virtual Lab

The Renesas Flexible Software Package (FSP) is an enhanced software package designed to provide easy‑to‑use, scalable, high‑quality software for embedded system designs using the RA Family of Arm® MCUs. FSP provides a quick and versatile way to build secure, connected IoT devices using production‑ready drivers, industry leading RTOS, and other middleware stacks.

We will focus on the fundamental features of FSP, including ease of use, configurator, e² studio integration, module selection, smart manual, and developer assistance. The features will be explained using a HAL‑only project covering all the features of FSP.

In this session, we will provide instruction for you to create a project that will sample ADC values periodically using a timer. Learn about adding a timer driver and configuring it, adding an ADC driver, and reading the ADC value in call back, adding ELC and transfer drivers and configuring it. In addition, we will go through the FSP configurator, generated code, POR‑to‑main‑code flow, using developer assistance and the smart manual.

Session objectives:

  • Understand the major components of FSP, module configurators, code generators, and Renesas e² studio IDE
  • Create a project to demonstrate how FSP drivers are RTOS‑independent and provide easy to‑use APIs to access MCU peripherals
  • Access developer assistance and the smart manual
