Hands On Training
Simplify Secure Chip to Cloud Connectivity
Join Renesas for a virtual hands-on session to learn how to quickly connect your system to the cloud using the sensor-rich RA6M5 Cloud Kit. Adding cloud connectivity to your next embedded design should be as easy for you as it is for your customers.
In this two-part lab, you will use the customized Renesas AWS dashboard to explore the endless possibilities of monitoring temperature, humidity, air quality and motion among other inputs.
The easy‑to‑use Renesas family of certified Cloud Kits was designed to simplify the process of IoT cloud connectivity and AI/ML solution prototyping and offer multiple connection options – Ethernet, Wi‑Fi, and cellular – providing global network coverage. The kits deliver a comprehensive suite of solutions to enable cloud product development without designing complex, custom circuitry or software stacks and include $10.00 AWS credits for quick and seamless cloud evaluation.
In this two-part lab, you will use the customized Renesas AWS dashboard to explore the endless possibilities of monitoring temperature, humidity, air quality and motion sensors data among other inputs.
Part I provides an overview of the Renesas AWS cloud solution without going through the complexities of project setup. You will register your kit on the Renesas AWS dashboard and use pre-compiled executable instructions to enable you to collect and transmit telemetry data from onboard sensors to the dashboard. We will leverage the Wi-Fi Pmod for connectivity to establish seamless communication.
In Part II, we will dive deeper and actively engage in project development for the binary utilized in Part I. You’ll leverage the Renesas Flexible Software Package (FSP) to access pre-built drivers for sensors, Wi-Fi, and MQTT connection. These drivers provide essential functionality and serve as a solid foundation for your project. Using a simple graphical interface, you’ll fine-tune the driver properties to tailor their behavior to your specific requirements.
The following steps will be covered during the workshop:
- Renesas e² studio and FSP tool setup
- Hardware setup
- New project creation, Wi-Fi and MQTT configuration using FSP for AWS connectivity
- Sensor configuration
- Renesas AWS Cloud Dashboard registration
- AWS credential configuration
- How to publish Telemetry to Dashboard
- Application coding in e² studio
Workshop objectives:
- Understand the fundamental features and setup of the RA Cloud Kit, work with the customized Renesas AWS dashboard and build a working solution.
- Get familiar with FSP, collect your own sensor data in the customized Renesas AWS dashboard and build your own working solution
Confirmed attendees will receive:
- CK-RA6M5 Cloud Kit
- Renesas AWS dashboard
- Latest version Renesas FSP software
- All coursework materials
System requirements:
- PC running Windows 10 64-bit with at least two USB ports
- Wi-Fi Access Point with Internet connection
- Renesas Flexible Software Package v5.1.0 platform installer
